Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918), as Austrian Symbolist painter. His primary subject for painting was the female figure. He was 45 when he painted “The Kiss” (1907-08). The highpoint of his “Golden Period” was when he painted a number of works in a similar style; square canvas with embracing, the bodies were covered in elaborate robes decorated with the influence of the Art Nouveau style and a form of the earlier Arts and Crafts movement's. What gives it the strikingly modern is the layers of Gold Leaf. The Kiss reflects his fascination with eroticism, we can see it in the tenderness presentation of the female whose body has most detail, colours and best expressed abstract passages of Klimt's career.
