Product Description
Albrecht Durer (21 May 1471 – 6 April 1528), was a German painter, Print maker, Engraver, Mathematician and Theorist. He was well known in early age, in his twenty's he has been conventionally regarded as the greatest artist of the Northern Renaissance ever since. He paintings included religious works, numerous portraits and self portraits and copper engravings. Some of his work retain Gothic look, his well known works include: the Knight, Death and the Devil (1513), Saint Jerome in his Study (1514) and Melencolia I (1514) have been a subject of extensive analysts and interpretation. His water-colours mark him as one of the first European landscape artists, while his ambitious woodcuts revolutionized the potential of that medium.
Durer Painted the “Young Hare” in 1502 in his workshop with water colour and body colour painting. It is acknowledged as a masterpiece of observational art alongside with his Great Piece of Turf. There is a debate about whether the Hare is a young hare or a matured field hare and whether he held it in captivity at his studio (there is a reflection of a window in the hare's eye...) or saw it in the field, but the accuracy of the painting which is almost photographic accuracy is not in doubt.
